How to Ease Sellers’ Stress

Selling a home is a stressful situation. It takes up a lot of time, energy, and not to mention money. Once showings begin to die down and time begins to drag on, a seller may start to get anxious about their home not selling. The reality is that homes typically don’t sell very quickly, and there can be a variety of reasons why that is.

How to Ease Sellers’ Stress

1. It can slow down based on the season.

Winter months tend to be slower than summer months when it comes to showings, for the sole reason that there are less people out and about when the weather starts to get cold. Depending on when you sell your home, it could take longer based on the season. There is less foot traffic outside, and therefore less people coming into open houses.

2. Open house viewers aren’t always looking to buy.

Even if you have thirty people enter your open house throughout the day, there is a good chance that none of them will be serious buyers. People enter open houses out of curiosity most of the time (or the enticement of baked goods) and may not even be in the market to buy a new home. A seller shouldn’t be disappointed if open houses don’t generate much traction – it can simply mean that the people there weren’t looking to buy.

3. The right buyer may not have been found yet.

The right buyer is out there, but you may have not found them yet. Every home is suitable for someone, but maybe there were a couple things that other prospective buyers felt weren’t quite right for them. Maybe the layout wasn’t what they expected, or maybe they wanted to keep looking for that walk-in closet they’ve been dreaming of – whatever the reason may be, your home will be perfect for someone out there. You may just have to wait a little longer to find them.
